
This concerns 2.4 million Dutch addresses, KPN reports on Friday. Customers who then still use the copper network can be connected to the fiber optic network by KPN. In some pilot areas, the copper network will be closed before 2023.
The aim is to eventually phase out the entire copper network in order to save costs and make maintenance easier. In the meantime, the provider is installing an ever-expanding fiber optic network. Fiber optic is more future-proof than the copper network and allows much higher internet speeds.
